Very beautiful complete salon by Henri Rapin and Charles Hairon for the private mansion of Doctor Jean d'Herbécourt and kept in the family ever since. Almost theatrical this furniture whose seats are reminiscent of thrones and very probably a unique work. It follows on from the set ordered in 1908/1909 by Doctor D'Herbécourt from Henri Bellery-Desfontaines (1867-1909). This consisted of a fireplace, a dresser, a sideboard, a table with twelve chairs and a chandelier, in which were included four large paintings by Henri Martin, woodwork and a door with stained glass window by Henri Rapin (this dining room is reconstructed in the departmental museum of Oise in Beauvais). It is therefore quite natural that, on the death of Bellery-Desfontaines, Rapin continues the development of the Parisian hotel. Painter, illustrator and decorator, artistic adviser at Sèvres, he designed the reception room and a dining room for the French Embassy during the 1925 Decorative Arts Exhibition. Born in Paris on February 24, 1873 and died in the same ville le 30 juin 1939 is a French painter, illustrator and decorator. A pupil of Jean Léon Gérôme and Eugène Grasset, he was close to Bellery-Desfontaines and gradually moved towards the decorative arts and thus designed art nouveau furniture (for Dumas Barbedienne among others) then evolved from 1910 towards art. decoration He was also artistic advisor to the Sévres factory in the 1920s.
