Coming from an ancient lineage of winemakers and artistic patrons, a student of Salvador Dali, Jean Viennet has two passions: vineyards and painting.
Jean Viennet is a portraitist with a dual perspective. A quirky vision of a world that challenges you.
«Painting remains the visible part of my subconscious. It allows the viewer, as in any art form, to bring forth the obscure areas of their thoughts within themselves.»
Why the dual perspective:
The gaze opens us to the world, and our world can be divided into two. One world we’ll call real, and one dreamlike. One is external and the other internal, open to dreams, reflection, the quest for the other, hopes, and disappointments.
For me, this gaze is visible in others. It is easy to see if the other is in action, dreaming, or reflecting. Hence this dual perspective, which, in fact, becomes very disturbing.
There is no question of creeping schizophrenia.
