Superb duck press made by a French silversmith in the late 19th century. Made of silvered bronze, it features refined gadroon decoration around the rim, testifying to exceptional craftsmanship. The richly worked feet add a touch of elegance and solidity to the whole.
This rare object is complete with all its functional elements, and rests on a magnificent amaranth wood base.

The rotonde montparnasse in Paris had one of these, probably made by Christofle. The one shown here features a cartouche signed Galand, SA HOCOS Brussels and was owned by the sheraton hotel place de rogier in brussels.
