He entered the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris in 1877, received a first gold medal in 1887 at the Decorative Arts Exhibition in Paris and a second gold medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1889. It was exhibited among others at Samuel Bing. He later took over Ernest Chalet's workshop in Paris and then moved to Armentieres in 1892.

He was made Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1894 and then elevated to the rank of Officer in 1920.
