MUSARRA Gabriel
Gabriel Musarra (1940–2015) was a Sicilian-born ceramicist, the son of Marius and Marie Musarra. From an early age, he trained in ceramics in the family workshop, inheriting both the craftsmanship and artistic sensitivity of his parents. His creations are distinguished by the elegance of their forms — slender vases, bottles, jugs, plates — and by the richness of their finishes, ranging from silky, luminous glazes to more rugged, rustic textures. In 1976, he founded his own workshop with his wife Yvonne, where he continued his exploration of color and material, notably through subtle variations of glazes applied to classical forms. His pieces, most often signed Musarra, reveal a balance between tradition and personal expression, reflecting his deep attachment to his family’s artisanal heritage while affirming a singular artistic vision.
