Exceptional Set of Eight Ceramic Panels

Creil and Montereau Manufacture

Last Quarter of the 19th Century

A rare and remarkable set of eight glazed fine earthenware panels from the prestigious Creil and Montereau manufacture, dating from the last quarter of the 19th century. This is very likely a unique custom order, originally created for a Bordeaux residence, intended to adorn a winter garden.

Each panel is adorned with a refined and polychromatic design featuring birds and floral compositions, all distinct from one another. These decorations demonstrate high artistic craftsmanship and exceptional decorative richness. The ensemble was designed to be displayed 80 cm from the ground, positioning the main scenes at eye level.

The panels, carefully disassembled, have the particularity of never having been set in plaster, but were originally held in place with decorative studs.
