Marcel Couderc (1898 - 1991), a drawing teacher and artist inspired by Naïve Art, is mainly known for his exceptional fresco which adorns the hall of the Camera cinema in Meknes, Morocco, created in 1939. This monumental fresco reflects the Art Deco aesthetic and his work. His attraction to the play of colour shades, intertwined perspectives and stylised compositions makes him the Douanier Rousseau of the Modern Age.
"Africaine et Enfant", 1953 illustrates the harmony sought by Marcel Couderc between a luxuriant Nature and the men who populate it. The geometrisation of lines and shapes, the addition of bright red to warm tones, reflect the decorative aspect of this modern artist.
