This lidded jar titled "Thaïs" is an exceptional collaboration between Camille Tharaud (1878–1956) and Henri Rapin (1873–1939), two prominent figures of the French decorative arts. Created around 1928 in Limoges, this enameled porcelain piece stands out with its polychrome geometric frieze design in shades of pink, green, blue, and grey, reflecting a strong Art Deco aesthetic. The cylindrical lid handle, adorned with freeform motifs, completes the balanced and elegant composition.

Incised with the signatures "Th" and "HR" beneath the base, the piece also bears the label of the Société d’Encouragement à l’Art et à l’Industrie, underscoring its official recognition, likely at the 1928 Salon des Artistes Décorateurs.

With its impressive dimensions (H. 42 cm, diam. 27 cm), the Thaïs jar exemplifies the fusion of modern design and artisanal excellence, characteristic of Camille Tharaud’s work at its peak. The piece comes from a private collection in Cagnes-sur-Mer, assembled by a couple of dedicated Tharaud collectors in the first half of the 20th century.
