Superb Polychrome Ceramic Column and Cachepot (circa 1880)
Three-part ensemble in richly decorated faience, attributed to the workshop of Johann von Schwartz in Nuremberg, whose mark was used between 1878 and 1898. The piece stands out for its exuberant and finely executed ornamentation, characteristic of late-19th-century German historicist production.

The column displays an opulent succession of sculpted and enamelled motifs: medallions, dolphins, cherubs, lion heads, satyrs, arabesques, fruits, scallop shells, fluting, and vegetal ornaments. The relief work, enhanced by a vibrant polychromy, demonstrates remarkable technical mastery and an exceptional attention to detail.

The cachepot, resting on the column, echoes the same decorative language and forms a harmonious and spectacular ensemble. The vivid colour palette—dominated by deep blues, saturated greens, golds, and warm browns—reinforces the decorative and theatrical character of the piece.

In very good condition, this composition, standing 152 cm tall, represents an outstanding example of German artistic faience from the period, most likely produced in the 1880s.
